Long ago, in Nome Alaska, gold was discovered along the beaches.
Thousands of men and women rushed to far away Alaska to get rich.
When the gold was gone, the people left and Nome was left with a small population.

Nome was very isolated in those days, the snow and ice lasted
seven months of the year and the nearest railroad was more the 600 miles away.
Sled Dog Teams brought the mail and supplies to this isolated place.
