 Monarch Butterfly Egg

Monarch Butterfly Egg

Monarch butterflies begin life as a very tiny egg on the underside of a milkweed leaf.

The female Monarch butterfly lays each egg, one at a time, one egg per plant and only on milkweed leaves.

She lays hundreds of eggs, on hundreds of leaves, one egg at a time. She is very careful with each egg.

Inside the egg a baby caterpillar grows for three to six days.

This is a very close up picture of one egg. Isn't it small?
